The images you see here are the results of our design and engineering work from a recently completed interior renovation of the La Quinta Inn & Suites located at 1 South Franklin in Chicago. For this assignment, Epstein provided architect of record, MEP engineering as well as lighting design services. Our work focused on implementing the approved schematic design solution for delivering new pre-function meeting rooms, relocating the business center, converting the exiting pool into a fitness center and converting the existing fitness center into a boardroom.

In addition, Epsteins architects and engineers were responsible for renovating La Quintas level one reception, designing a new sundries shop, developing plans for a new bar and expanded kitchen, as well as modifications to the public corridor, public restrooms, and pool deck. In addition, Epstein also renovated the breakfast area and modified the elevator cabs on level two.

The results of this renovation have been very well received by La Quinta and this project is just one of over 50 renovation projects Epstein is working on for La Quinta. With a focus on the bright side La Quinta has committed to an expansive phased renovation program consisting of over 200 hotels intended to elevate the brand and deliver a consistent product line which echoes the success of La Quintas Del Sol prototype. Epstein is currently one of La Quintas trusted design consultants for this nationwide re-branding program and our work includes interior guestroom/ public space renovations, and exterior building modifications to create a consistent, modern aesthetic over the La Quinta brand.

Lastly, what you might not know is that Epstein has had a nearly 60 year history with the 1 South Franklin Building as we were the architect and engineer for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicagos (JFMC) headquarters, a nine-story office building that was completed in 1958. The JFMC called 1 South Franklin their home until 2006 when they moved into their current headquarters at 30 S. Wells. But, Epsteins involvement with this building still continued after the JFMC moved. The La Quinta Corporation looking for a location for their flagship Chicago hotel identified this building as the perfect spot. Epstein was then hired by La Quinta to renovate, expand and reconfigure this office building into a new, modern 240-key Hotel a task which was completed in 2009 when La Quinta Inn & Suites opened.
