We prepare design criteria for each project considering seismic accelerations, wind speeds, snow loading, blast resistance, vibration resistance, sound attenuation, equipment loading's and special occupancy requirements. We select structural systems uniquely appropriate for each project while considering project locality, construction methodology, effectiveness of various structural materials, architectural expressions, strength and stiffness requirements, environmental durability, sensitivities to sound and vibrations, initial and long-term costs, response to catastrophic events and the functional needs of the occupancy.

Employee Spotlight: John Lach
Nearing his 25th anniversary, John joined Epstein in 2000, bringing with him design and analysis experience that includes commercial and industrial building systems and multiple span bridge structures. He is now our Vice President and Director of Structural Engineering.
“I’ve been at Epstein for over 20 years, and the same thing that brought me here is one of the things that has kept me here. I have had the opportunity to work on a large and diverse variety of projects. From convention centers and arenas to high-rise residential and office to food processing and warehouse to forensic investigations, I feel lucky to have completed a careers worth of work in less than a career. There is never a boring day.”
During his tenure with Epstein, John has been an integral member of the design team on projects including convention centers, high-rise office buildings, residential and mixed-use developments, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and educational facilities. Needless to say, his expertise includes the design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and hybrid roof systems.
