Epstein provided architectural design services for the Penta Medziana office building in downtown Warsaw, five blocks from Epstein’s Zlote Tarasy shopping center.
The building features ten levels of premium leasable office space organized around a center atrium and landscaped courtyard. Biophilic design principals along with access to natural daylight create an uplifting and pleasant tenant experience. Three large, soaring copper planters emerge from the lobby floor and pierce through the glass atrium ceiling to create a dramatic entry sequence into the building. The planters serve as rain water collectors and would sustain large plantings that would be visible from the tenant floors.
Convenient café’s, restaurant and retail surround the courtyard to create an attractive amenity for its tenants. Two levels of enclosed underground parking furthers tenant convenience. The building façade is a mixture of high performance glazing and precast concrete panels. The precast panels angle to create texture and rhythm to contrast the simplicity of the glass façade. Operable windows contribute to tenant comfort and access to open air. An intensive green roof and rooftop patio was also envisioned as an amenity for tenants. High performance shading systems, as well as MEP systems, were designed to reduce greenhouse emissions and contribute to sustainable design practices aimed at reducing the building’s carbon footprint.
