Epstein provided interior design and MEP/FP engineering services to GEMS Americas for a 35,000-square-foot school. The school, Little GEMS International Lincoln Park, is comprised of 18 brightly colored and interactive classroom spaces for babies, toddlers and preschool-age children.
In addition, there are five learning and play areas with special features that are strategically located throughout the building. The facility includes two gymnasiums, a stage for theatre performances, a studio for music and dance and a virtual indoor park designed to represent various natural and physical environments.
Cutting-edge audio/visual technology is a key part of the curriculum and is integrated throughout the school through the use of touch screens, motion activated monitors, LED lighting and speaker panels. The modern classrooms are outfitted with every resource to help children play and grow.
Children can learn to play the keyboard in the music studio, perform a puppet show in the theatre, peruse a picture book on a tablet, or go on a simulated field trip without ever leaving the school.
