We are pleased to welcome Steve Marx, our new Director of Client Services, to Epstein!
Steve comes to us from Hotel Source, Inc., a hotel real estate brokerage and advisory firm. As the president and founder, he was responsible for overseeing financial analysis, business marketing, buyer representation and value creation.
At Epstein, Steve will be joining the Business Development and Marketing team, where he will be tasked with developing and managing business relationships with clients in the office, hospitality and retail markets.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University (go Spartans!) in hotel administration and management. While at MSU, Steve held leadership roles in groups such as the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association, the Hospitality Association and the Consultants Club. He also studied in Switzerland and France while earning his degree.
Steve received a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University (go Blue Demons!) in finance. He studied in Viet Nam and Thailand as part of this business program. He remains active with DePaul, serving on the hospitality leadership advisory board, mentoring students and assisting in the classroom.
Steve also attended New York University, where he holds a certificate in real estate finance investment. He is an active member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants.
He has always been passionate about architecture and fascinated with design. Growing up, I became great friends with all the gargoyles in the neighborhood, Steve said. Editors note: Said gargoyles did not return our request for comment.
If you havent gathered by now, Steve loves to travel internationally. His recent trips include Cuba, Iceland, Italy and Shanghai, where he taught a hotel branding course to French graduate students. Steve, thats just the recent list?! Although, he says he equally enjoys discovering often underappreciated cities in the U.S., such as Marfa (Texas), Louisville, Madison and Pittsburgh. Steve loves sharing his passion for travel so much so, he even created a travel website, Ignite Curiosities!
Some of Steves additional hobbies include writing, bicycling, riding in vintage elevators and eating black licorice. Yep, you read that right. Steve is a self-proclaimed candy addict. I hope that translates into you having candy on you at all times, Steve. He also likes to experiment in the kitchen, particularly with unusual breakfast creations. Should I start a taste tester sign-up sheet?
Also, Steve rarely sleeps, so dont be alarmed if you receive emails from him during all hours of the night. Are gargoyles nocturnal? Asking for a friend.
Welcome again, Steve. Were thrilled to have you join us!
