We are happy to welcome Peter Hepp, our new Project Engineer, to the Construction Department and to the Epstein family!
Peter comes to us from Leopardo Companies, a general contractor, where he served as a project engineer and worked primarily in healthcare projects. Prior to that, Peter interned and was subsequently hired as a scheduling engineer with Mortenson Construction. During this time, he lived and worked in Utah and Texas on commercial solar fields -- 110 MWdc per site, which is enough to power roughly 110,000 homes each!
Since joining Epstein, Peter has primarily been working on the bidding, estimating and project management for Dailys Premium Meats Salt Lake City expansion project.
He grew up in Kildeer, Illinois, which is located in the northwest suburbs, and attended Carmel Catholic High School (go Corsairs!). Peter later transferred to Lake Zurich High School (go Bears!). He received a Bachelors Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Marquette University (go Golden Eagles!).
I always had an appreciation for architecture and construction growing up, Peter said. As I was studying civil engineering in college, a couple of internships were formative to my choice in construction management.
He has another year before attaining his P.E. in construction engineering something he is very excited for!
Peter is highly active outside of work, and enjoys trying new activities. He is currently working on his kiteboarding level III certification. Now, for those who arent familiar, kiteboarding combines aspects of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, skateboarding and sailing into one extreme sport. Once he (undoubtedly) acquires that, hell be able to ride independently on Lake Michigan! Biking, golfing and playing football are some of Peters other favorites.
He also loves photography landscape and buildings mostly. He recently got his first drone, allowing him to expand his skill set and take aerial shots and videos. Peter, we have an inkling there may be a few people here who will ask to, ahem, borrow that bad boy¦
He is a self-proclaimed Chicago adventurer, and enjoys going to museums and finding great new spots to grab a bite.
Peter, a constant learner, says he is always looking for new ways to do things in both his professional and personal roles. I look forward to sharing new ideas with our organization and building on a legacy of success!
We look forward to that, as well. Glad to have you with us, Peter!
