We are pleased to welcome our newest Project Manager, Dennis Link, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, to Epstein! Although hes an architect by trade, he joins our Project Management Group.
Prior to coming to Epstein, Dennis had his own residential practice after working in the commercial world for 18 years.
He attended Ball State Universitys College of Architecture and Planning in Muncie, Indiana (go Cardinals!). There, he received his B.Arch and his B.S. in Environmental Design, having always been interested in building due to his family being made up of primarily engineers and contractors.
Mostly, I think it was my father. He always wanted to be an architect but never took the chance. He was a huge [Frank Lloyd] Wright fan, Dennis said. Wed take vacations to places like Falling Water or trips in New York City to the Guggenheim. I fell in love with the concept of making space and, really, never looked back.
Dennis was born and raised in New Jersey, attended Franklin High School in Somerset, and says his extracurriculars included marching band, art and being a self-proclaimed theater geek. No shame there.
In his time outside of Epstein, Dennis is the president of a nonprofit group called the Mary Bradof Foundation. The grass-roots organization funds smaller community-based groups. Since 2001, the foundation has donated over $1,000,000 to over forty nonprofits.
We support smaller organizations that often lack the staffing to apply for grants from larger philanthropic groups. We believe this micro-grant strategy helps get critical financial resources to the many grass-roots groups that serve our communities and will have the greatest impact on those in need. So, if you know of any great 501(c)3 nonprofits in the area, let me know; wed love to help them keep doing great things.
Dennis loves to cook, specifically old school BBQ/smoking. His hobbies include taking care of his girlfriend who is a fulltime grad student and TA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for her masters of fine arts in photography (MFA). And, of course, playing with their 5 cats. We demand photos!
When he has some time to himself, Dennis likes to write, hike, travel like a local, and drive his 14-year-old Mustang to new adventures. So far, hes driven all the way down to Key West and all the way up to Quebec, CA.
Best trips are about the journey not just the destination. Though, a historic Route 66 adventure is still on the horizon.
I regret to say, Dennis does not like deep-dish pizza¦ Maybe someday Ill show Chicago the New Jersey delicacy we call Pork Roll.
While, admittedly, that does sound deliciously intriguing, that did not distract us from those pizza fighting words...
Regardless, we are delighted to have you join Epstein, Dennis!
