We are pleased to welcome Brian Foss, PE, our new Project Engineer, to Epsteins MEP Department!

Brian joined the industry working for Identity Cloud Service (IDCS), which is a small engineering firm in Chicago. He spent his first 3 ½ years there before accepting a job at exp Federal as an electrical engineer.

Brian attended Purdue University (go Boilermakers!) and received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. While there, he was a member of the Purdue All-American Marching Band, where he played, literally, the Worlds Largest Drum. Furthermore, in 2010, the band led the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City! If anyone would like to see the band in action, click here (Brian is on the right front of the drum).

He grew up in Glenview and attended Glenbrook South High School. Outside of work, Brian likes to keep himself busy on the weekends. He currently plays drums in the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band. The Shannon Rovers have been the official pipe band of Chicagos Downtown St. Patricks Day Parade since it began in 1956. As it gets closer to March 17th, Brian will be harder to track down, as he gets super busy with rehearsals.

He also likes to brew beer at home when he has a free day. He and his friends have a *doppelbock fermenting that should be ready sometime in January. He said they made sure to brew it using the traditional triple decoction method. That one took an entire Sunday to brew, but itll be worth it!

*For those of you who are not up on your fermented beverages, a doppelback is a beer originally made by monks in Munich, Germany, which is much stronger and rich in toasted bread-like flavor.

Sticking to the culinary scene, Brian also likes to cook and bake whenever he gets the chance. Bonus: He says hell be sure to bring in some baked goods in the near future. His signature bakes are either banana bread or French silk pie no soggy bottoms for fans of the Great British Baking Show. What a happy coincidence, as those are our signature eats!

Also noteworthy: Brians favorite time of year is March Madness. College basketball does always seem to help the winter months pass by quicker. Double that up with all the St. Patricks Day festivities and March is a busy but exciting month!

Speaking of exciting months Brian plans to run the Chicago Marathon, again, next October. He previously ran (and finished) in 2014. Kudos!
