We are pleased to welcome Brian Bryce, our new IT Specialist, to Epstein!
For the last year and a half, Brian worked as an IT consultant for a small IT/Sage consulting company called Partners in Technology. The company was bought by a larger firm called SWK Technologies back in January. They were a MSP (Managed Service Provider) for roughly 30 small to mid-sized companies.
Before taking a year off to travel, Brian spent nearly 11 years as a system administrator for an environmental consulting company called Tetra Tech, where he specialized in server administration, backups/disaster recovery and Avaya phone systems. Prior to that, he got his start in the IT world by working for Bloomberg for almost 10 years. He started off in Field Service, installing and troubleshooting Bloomberg terminals for banks and financial institutions. After about two years, Brian was promoted to system administrator for the Chicago news bureau, where he took care of everything from IT, facilities management, built and supported the TV/radio studios they had at the office and the trading floor of the Chicago Board of Trade. As Bloomberg expanded, and more newsrooms were built throughout the U.S., he was put in charge of all IT and facilities matters for six other offices in the Midwest.
Brian grew up in the Hegewisch neighborhood (southeast side of Chicago). He attended DeVry Chicago, where he earned his ASA in electronics.
Brian is a car enthusiast. He has always loved the American muscle cars of the 60s and 70s. He even owned a pair of 1966 Mustangs and currently drives a 06 Mustang GT. Brian, along with his wife, also love to travel. When they took a year off in 2017 to travel to Europe they made the rounds, visiting: Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania and Hungary. On other trips, they have visited Italy (where they got married), Greece, Malta, England, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Guatemala and Mexico.
He also enjoys hanging out with his two dogs, Khaleesi (Staffordshire pit mix) and Gala (rat terrier mix). They adopted Khaleesi last October and Gala back in June. They always keep things interesting, Brian says.
What else should we know about Brian? He is a constant tinkerer. He likes working with his hands and fixing things. He refuses to take his cars to a mechanic or call a repairman to fix anything in the house. He will just pull up Google or YouTube, and surely figure out how to do it himself.
Once again, welcome to Epstein, Brian! Were thrilled to have you join us.
