We just received notification that two of our Warsaw office projects have received BREEAM* (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) Certification! These projects were the IRIS Office Building and the South Park Mixed Use Development, both located in Warsaw.

For IRIS, which involved converting an existing warehouse building into an office development, Epstein served as the BREEAM Assessor and helped this project navigate the BREEAM certification process.

The South Park project, for which Epstein is the design architect and engineer as well as BREEAM Assessor, features all new construction for this mixed-use development located in one of Warsaw's foremost business districts. This large scale development is planned to feature office, retail, hotel and residential space with ample underground parking. South Park's first stage, which is the recipient of BREEAM's Design Phase BREEAM 2009 Europe Commercial: Offices (Shell only) Certification, is comprised of 86,586 m2 (930,000 sf) of rentable area comprised of a six Class-A 8-story office buildings with a retail components. This phase is scheduled to be completed in 2015.

Congratulations go out to our Warsaw office for 'jobs' well done on receiving these very prestigious sustainable design certifications!

* For those of you who are curious BREEAM is Europe's equivalent to the United States Green Building Certification (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.
