At Epstein, we work on wide range of project types, but never in our 95 year history have we ever collaborated with James Bond, Ethan Hunt and Maxwell Smart. That all changed about eight months ago when we were asked to provide architect of record services and MEP/FP engineering design for the new spy-themed SafeHouse Chicago restaurant and bar. Operated much like the Milwaukee SafeHouse landmark, a similar espionage-themed dining experience that has been around since 1966, the SafeHouse Chicago, features a modernized version of that iconic Milwaukee destination.

The SafeHouse Chicago, which is owned by Marcus Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants, is located at 60 E. Ontario Street, adjacent to Marcus Marriott AC Hotel at 630 N. Rush Street, features two bars, a dining room, lounge, dance floor and a spybrary. In addition, the SafeHouse Chicago includes part of authentic World War II spy plane as well as a piece of the Berlin Wall.
Currently, the staff of SafeHouse Chicago is going through the final preparation phase for the grand opening which will take place later this month. (Once we get the details we will pass them along) In the meantime, here are some photos of the space, and as an added FYI - this morning, WGN-TV is at the restaurant as part of their Around Town segment.
Lastly, the Epstein design spys responsible for helping deliver the SafeHouse Chicago are Mike Dalezman, Sheya Finkelstein, Renata Pajerska, Martin Barenbaum, David Scott, Will Owen, Paul Thomas, and Randy Buescher. Great job team!
