Epstein is pleased to be serving as the civil engineer for Lincoln Common, a project that involves redeveloping the former Children's Memorial Hospital site in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood into a massive mixed-use development.
For this approximately 816,000 square feet multi-building project, Epstein is also responsible for the design of the on-site grading, utility services and roadway improvements.
Dave Hilty, PE, Epstein's Civil Engineering Project Manager, explains what can be seen in the construction progress photos featured in this article:
The Lincoln Common project is nearing completion. The projects stormwater detention is contained within four enclosed systems that include cast-in-place concrete vaults as well as reinforced concrete pipe storage under one of the buildings. Epstein provided roadway design that included traffic and pedestrian signal upgrades, improved drainage, and new bike paths.
Once complete, the Lincoln Commons development will feature 540 luxury rental residential units on a 6-acre site in two mid-rise towers, 60 low-rise condominiums, 160,000 square feet of retail space, and 57,000 square feet of open area accessible.
