Its been a good 12 months for our Javits project. After winning a Distinguished Building Award from the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in late 2014, Javits then was a January feature story in the New York Times about the eco-friendly nature of renovation and then a little over a month ago Javits received its LEED-NC Silver certification from the USGBC. Now, another accolade has been given to the Epstein-FXFOWLE designed renovation and expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, a COTE (Committee of the Environment) Design Award from the New York Chapter of the AIA. Javits is one of 7 projects to be honored by the AIANY in a ceremony that will be held a week from today (December 7th) at 536 LaGuardia Place in New York.
The AIANY COTE Awards recognize design that brings us closer to solving critical issues (environment, energy/water independence, political stability) facing our communities as achieving the highest level of intention possible in the field of architecture. Additionally, the COTE Awards recognizes results-oriented achievements in the urban context. Winning submissions demonstrate processes that culminate in beautiful, timeless, and measurable design. The awards further sustainable design in the architectural profession, make transparent lessons learned, and reveal the process behind true innovation in an urban context.
Quite an honor indeed!
