Coming in at no. 52 in Epstein's Top 100 Projects countdown is the Wholestone Farms headquarters and processing facility in Fremont, Nebraska. This program is unique to our countdown, as it’s the first current assignment to be highlighted.
Since 2018, Epstein has been working with Wholestone on the transformation of this facility, a building that was formerly a Hormel Foods pork processing facility. Prior to the public announcement of Wholestone’s purchase of the Hormel plan, Epstein worked with Wholestone to develop a multi-year program that would improve the plant and its operations with the goal of making the plant competitive with large, modern plants of recent construction.
To achieve this goal, Epstein identified a number of projects to be completed over the next few years. Those projects included: A new CO2 stunner, office and employee area improvements, carcass cooling expansion, waste water pretreatment system, and new snap chill & trim blend operations.
For all of these projects, Epstein was contracted by WholeStone to provide overall project management and full DesignBuild services.
Over the last two years, these projects have been completed. We are now addressing Wholestone’s next phase of improvement projects, which include a new cut floor and rendering facility.
