Last week, May 23rd, Epstein received an Award of Excellence for Sustainability at EURO Constructions annual gala held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bucharest. This event, which was held as part of EUROs International Conference on Sustainable Construction & Energy Efficiency, honored firms and institutions for their innovative solutions in sustainable construction and the special contribution these organizations made to the development of the Romanian construction market.
Receiving the EURO Construction Award on behalf of Epstein was Nicole Sommer, our Bucharest-based business development manager.
One of Epsteins most prominent sustainable design and engineering efforts in Romania is the Bridge Building, an approximately 79,500 square meter speculative office development project planned for the Orhideea area of Bucharest. This two-building commercial development designed and engineered by Epstein is currently under construction. The Bridge, which is pursuing LEED-NC Gold certification, incorporates a number of sustainable design features, including the capturing of storm water for use in landscape watering, storm water quality discharge through oil and silt separation, high-efficiency glazing customized to façade exposers, LED lighting and four pipe fan coil HVAC system. Additionally, the Bridge Building will also feature bicycle provisions, alternative energy vehicle parking, drought tolerant landscaping, and nearly 80% of all tenant work space areas will have access to daylight and views out of the building.
