Earlier this month, Epstein engineers MaÅgorzata Sewerynik & PaweÅ Jannasz were honored with a PASCAL Industry Award from the Polish Ventilation Association. The PASCAL award is given for outstanding engineering design and to commend engineers for their professional achievement. MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ were specifically honored for their HVAC design of Cosmopolitan Tower, a 42-story high-rise apartment tower located in Warsaw, Poland.

For the Cosmopolitan Tower, MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ developed sophisticated ventilation and air-conditioning solutions by supplying air to apartments through two 42nd floor mechanical air-handling units with coolers as well as two air handling units with coolers on the 7th floor. In addition, MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ designed the humidification of air distributed to apartments as well as the replacement of air in the apartments, which is carried out by mechanical lifts located in the bathrooms and kitchens.

The air handling units MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ designed feature heat recovery units in the kitchen and the bathrooms, and fans in all of the units are used with inverters so that they can operate at lower speeds. Additionally, all of the apartments feature channel fan coils which were installed in the suspended ceiling. These coils act as both cooling and heating components and provide individual control of temperature in each of the apartments.

Lastly, MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ's HVAC design also allows for optimization of the heat recovery, air conditioning and central plant operation to efficiently heat and cool building functions like the leasing/management offices and maintenance rooms.

Congratulations MaÅgorzata & PaweÅ on the wonderful award and professional achievement!
