This past weekend, Epstein’s Staffing Initiative Committee (SIC) teamed up with the Chicago Park District to host a park cleanup.
Saturday, a group of volunteers headed out to Legion Park, an 18-acre park with four playgrounds located just north up the river.
According to our Jessica Hufford, who helped organize the event, there was a great turnout, and it was wonderful that many Epsteiners brought their families along. “It really made it feel like a community effort, and will help to teach the younger generation to care for our neighborhoods and planet.”
The group spent their time on the west side of the river. With some upbeat tunes to keep everyone going, they were able to fill multiple garbage bags with trash and recycling. “It was rewarding to be able to give back to the community and keep the park nice for future patrons,” Jessica said. “Especially considering that many places are currently closed due to the pandemic, the park cleanup will provide a safe space for people to go out, stretch their legs, and get some fresh air while maintaining social distancing. I has a passing walker thank me for my efforts, so I know we were appreciated.”
A huge shout out and thank you to those who donated a portion of their weekend for this great cause: Jessica Hufford, Tom and Barb Smiles, Laura Rebbe and her two children, Criss Paccione-Anderson and her two children, Andy Valinskas, Jon Scales and his fiancé, Samantha Schneider, and Kelly Van Eaton, who was joined by his wife and child.
Way to go!
