The Epstein Community Foundation (ECF), the charitable arm of Epstein, is hosting our annual golf outing on Friday, Sept. 6th. In its 7th year, the event is being held at the Orchard Valley Golf Course, in Aurora, a course that has been ranked as one of the top 10 public courses in Illinois.
This year, the ECF is teaming up with several wonderful organizations to help those in several different communities, including:
- ACE Mentor Program: ACEs mission is to inform and excite high school students about career opportunities in architecture, construction and engineering, encourage students to pursue secondary and post-secondary education that will prepare them for careers in the integrated construction industry, and support the development of basic and technical skills through mentoring relationships. ECF awarded scholarships to six ACE students this year, totaling $9,000.
- Rebuilding Together: Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago is a nonprofit that believes in a safe and healthy home for everyone, and is dedicated to improving the homes and communities of the elderly, disabled and low-income residents so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence. We completed a house renovation in April for a family in need.
- Back 2 School: Back 2 Schools mission is to create and support educational opportunities that enrich the lives of Illinois children. We will partner with them to provide school supply kits for 175 children in the foster care system.
- Grants: The ECF also plans to award four $5,000 grants to charitable organizations in need of funding this fall. Last years grants were awarded to Youth & Opportunity United, El Paseo Community Garden, Kusanya Café, Inc. and Chicago Mobile Makers.
Last year's outing was a huge success, due to the amazing sponsors who helped the foundation raise $24,000.
