To kick off Engineers Week 2017 and to celebrate the wonders of engineering, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Foundation sponsored a premier viewing of the IMAX film, Dream Big Engineering Our World at the Peoria Riverfront Museum this past Saturday. Dream Big featured engineering marvels worldwide from Dubais record-high skyscrapers to bridges soaring through clouds. Dream Big highlighted the ingenuity needed to create engineering marvels as well as the compassion that drives engineers to create better lives for all. Some of the unique and creative elements included the use of sticky rice in the mortar of the Great Wall of China to help it absorb the forces of nature, the special twist in the Shanghai Tower to allow it to stand up to the forces of the wind, and the challenges of building a footbridge across a river in Haiti so kids can safely attend school.

Dan is already somewhat of an expert having travelled to all corners of the country to ride on, an astonishing, 138 different roller coasters! This summer Dan is planning on traveling all the way to Idaho to shadow one of the most innovative roller coaster design firms in the country to understand more about the roller coaster industry.
