A group of Epstein Community Foundation volunteers spent time last week helping to furnish a home for a family who recently emerged from homelessness through Humble Design.
The ECF sponsored a family to provide them with updated furnishings and décor to their new home. The family of four – a mother and her three children ages 3 to 18 – previously lived with only one bed and a few pots and pans. Their once empty home is now furnished with a bed for everyone, plus everything that fulfills not only their basic necessities, but items that truly make it a home, such as decorative bedding, towels, tables and seating, and framed art.
The day of service is a great opportunity for the ECF to give back to the community and see the impact firsthand – giving a family a fresh start. These volunteer events are critical in Humble Design’s mission to turn moving in, into moving forward. Moreover, for ECF volunteers, it was a truly humbling experience.
