Many congratulations to our Andy Valinskas, Epsteins Structural Design Engineer, for completing his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago!
Andy has been a part-time student taking evening courses while working full-time for the past 2.5 years. The courses he took were mainly design-related, such as Structural Steel Systems and Advance Concrete Structural Design, both of which covered different design systems under seismic conditions.
He decided to further his education because he thought the courses would be valuable and supplementary to his day-to-day work at Epstein.
The courses I selected during the program were mostly related to my daily work flow, Andy said. I benefitted highly from it, and believe I advanced my skills for what I do at work.
Andy selected UIC because thats where he received his Bachelors Degree from (also in civil engineering). Plus, according to Andy, UIC is very close to Epstein; so he was able to walk there after work and get a little exercise in!
The hardest part of the program for Andy? Finding time to complete the homework and study the material on top of work and classes. Ah, weve all been there.
Andy initially completed a summer internship with Epstein one year before graduating with his Bachelors. After graduating in 2015, he came back in a full-time role and has been with us ever since!
Once again, congratulations, Andy! Your Epstein family is proud of your tremendous accomplishment. Also, congrats to having your weekends free again!
